Be A Tree!
A new global project for you to participate in – create awareness for trees!
We need them! And they are beautiful!
What To Do
- Grab a pot, a shovel, a camera, a few friends and think of somewhere where trees used to be, or where you would like them to be and go plant yourself, and Be A Tree right there!
- Take a picture!
- POST your pics on Be A Tree!
- That’s it!! Simple!
Clues…
Think shopping mall parking lots (where there used to be trees!), perhaps you're in India and there are nearby hills that have been deforested, be trees around a lake, on top of tall buildings, downtown, indoors, outdoors, perhaps you're at the North Pole, doing research in the Andes, in the middle of a business meeting!, sailing round the World (be a grove of trees on your deck or atop the mast!)… go amongst trees and be human trees alongside them… see what happens, listen inside, take a picture and POST IT on 'Be A Tree'! Add some comments & back story about your post - we'd love to hear.
Why?… why NOW?
Polly Higgins and the wider earth-caring community wish to see Ecocide legally recognized, at the international level, as a crime against Peace. We need our voice, the voices that care so much about having a happy, healthy, ongoing, planet to find multiple creative ways to show that we care and why we care. This arts campaign is the first in a two-part series that wants to bring visibility through community building - the arts are how we express ourselves, joyfully, meaningfully and poignantly, so this is a way that we can stand up together - across this beautiful planet - and wrap our arms around her, express our love for her, and protect the future of life. This is a passionate opportunity.
Rio Summit is in June 2012, Earth Day is looming - we need to get the attention of World Leaders right now, to start raising awareness... increasing pressure to notice that we care!
